Abstract Invasion by Mediterranean annual grasses, such as Avena L. spp. and Bronms L. spp, is one of the major threats to temperate perennial grassland. This study investigated the effects of annual grasses and their litter on the species composition of a grassland near Burra, South Australia. The placement of annual grass litter on soil samples in the glasshouse decreased the establishment or growth of several exotic annual dicots. In the field the addition of annual grass litter slightly decreased the frequency of Danthonia Lam. & DC. tussocks. Furthermore, litter strongly reduced the species richness from 13 species in plots with no litter to nine species in plots with the highest litter level, mainly by decreasing the frequency of common exotic dicots. Native dicot frequency similarly appeared to be decreased by litter addition. In addition to the negative effects of their litter, annual grasses also directly competed with perennial grasses. The magnitude of the competitive effect varied systematically along a slope, suggesting that other factors such as soil properties may control competitive inter actions. The biomass of annual grasses also tended to increase with the addition of their own litter. This combination of positive and negative feedback mechanisms suggests that brief periods favourable for annual grasses, either through management changes or environmental conditions, can lead to persistent changes in the species composition of the system.  相似文献

以内蒙古贝加尔针茅草原为研究对象,通过氮素添加(0、15、30、50、100、150、200、300 kg N hm~(-2)a~(-1))模拟氮沉降的控制实验,研究氮沉降对内蒙古贝加尔针茅草原土壤线虫的群落结构和多样性的影响。结果表明,在本实验所有样品中共鉴定出52个属,优势类群为螺旋属(Helicotylenchus)、丽突属(Acrobeles)和真滑刃属(Aphelenchus)。土壤线虫具有明显的表聚现象,相对密度变化不显著。从功能类群上看,随着氮素添加水平的增加,食细菌类群(Bacterivores)线虫和捕食类群/杂食类群(Predators/Omnivores)线虫氮素添加水平均成负相关。从生态指标来看,在N50施氮范围内对土壤线虫的丰富度(SR)、多样性(H')、均匀度(J')等生态指标有促进作用;通路指数在试验的所有处理中都小于0.75,表明土壤中的有机质分解途径是以真菌为主;瓦斯乐思卡指数表明,少量施氮可以改善土壤的环境状况,减少植物寄生类群(Plant parasites)线虫对植物群落及生产力的影响。当施氮量N100时,土壤pH值显著降低,硝态氮和铵态氮显著增加,土壤中生活史k对策者的线虫显著减少,r对策者显著增加,世代交替加快,土壤线虫群落结构显著变化。  相似文献

研究氮沉降和降雨变化对土壤细菌群落结构的影响,对未来预测多个气候变化因子对草地生态系统影响的交互作用具有重要意义。以施氮和灌溉分别模拟氮沉降和降雨增加,采用高通量测序技术,研究8个氮添加水平(0、15、30、50、100、150、200、300kg N hm-2a-1)和2个水分添加水平(不灌溉、模拟夏季增雨100 mm灌溉)对土壤细菌群落结构的影响。结果表明,氮素和水分输入增加后,土壤细菌群落组成、丰度均显著变化(P0.05)。在群落中占主导的细菌门类有疣微菌门Verrucomicrobia(30.61%—48.51%)、变形菌门Proteobacteria(21.37%—29.97%)、酸杆菌门Acidobacteria(9.54%—20.67%)和拟杆菌门Bacteroidetes(4.96%—9.74%)。在常规降雨和水分添加两种条件下,随着氮添加水平的增加,占主导的细菌门类(相对丰度1%)表现出不同的变化趋势。疣微菌门相对丰度在常规降雨N100—N300条件下显著降低,但在氮素和水分同时添加条件下随氮添加水平升高而逐渐升高,在N200—N300时显著升高。变形菌门和拟杆菌门相对丰度在常规降雨高氮添加条件下呈升高趋势,但在水分添加时却无明显变化。酸杆菌门相对丰度在常规降雨高氮添加条件下升高,但在水分添加后呈明显下降趋势。放线菌门Actinobacteria相对丰度在常规降雨N100—N300条件下显著升高,但在水分添加后高氮添加时显著降低。厚壁菌门Firmicutes相对丰度在常规降雨条件下无显著变化,但在水分和高氮添加条件下降低。浮霉菌门Planctomycetes相对丰度在两种不同的水分添加条件下均呈先升高后降低的趋势。氮素和水分添加对土壤细菌群落结构的变化存在明显的互作效应(P0.0001)。在不同氮素和水分输入条件下共有19个土壤细菌门类相对丰度有显著差异。土壤细菌群落结构的变化主要来自于疣微菌门和酸杆菌门的相对丰度变化,两者可作为土壤细菌群落结构变化的指示种。综上,氮素和水分添加显著改变了土壤细菌群落结构,氮素和水分对土壤细菌不同门类相对丰度变化存在明显的互作效应。  相似文献

为探究全球变暖对温带荒漠草原地上种群的遗传影响,对已经接受模拟增温处理6年的短花针茅草原4种不同生活型植物,即半灌木、多年生禾草、多年生杂类草和一年生植物,应用AFLP分子标记方法研究了其遗传多样性和遗传结构。结果显示,对照处理与增温处理下的木地肤、短花针茅、细叶葱、猪毛菜4种植物的多态位点百分率(PPB)分别为11.32%,11.32%;40.83%,39.91%;14.29%,13.10%;19.85%,19.12%。Nei's基因多样性指数(He)分别为0.0274,0.0259;0.0812,0.0899;0.0131,0.0084;0.0506,0.0456。Shannon's信息指数值(I)分别为0.0447,0.0430;0.1354,0.1466;0.0267,0.0182;0.0811,0.0733。分子方差分析(AMOVA)显示4种植物的变异主要来源于实验处理内部,木地肤为85.03%,短花针茅为66.35%,细叶葱为70.00%,猪毛菜为66.52%;增温处理间的变异分别占-2.81%,-5.47%,-3.60%,2.53%(P0.05)。4种植物增温处理与变异程度之间在统计学上并无相关性。研究表明虽然短时间的模拟增温并不足以使4种生活型植物种群遗传多样性和遗传结构发生显著变化,但相对于3种多年生植物,一年生植物猪毛菜更容易受到增温影响。多年生和一年生植物对增温具有不同的遗传响应。  相似文献

The interest of the scientific community in biological soil crusts has grown exponentially over the last decades. One of the scientific research interests is the study of the effect of these crusts on plant establishment. Findings in this topic have been controversial, and some differences were attributed to crust types. Biological soil crusts dominated by lichens are common components of Stipa tenacissima steppes in arid and semi‐arid environments of the southern Mediterranean. In the current study, we conducted growth chamber experiments to investigate the differential effects of two lichen species with continuous crustose thalli (Diploschistes diacapsis) and with squamulose semicontinuous thalli (Fulgensia bracteata) on seed germination, root penetration, shoot emergence and seed viability of the tussock grass species S. tenacissima. Our results showed that under laboratory conditions, two distinct lichen species had significantly different effects on the establishment of S. tenacissima. Our findings clearly demonstrated that D. diacapsis significantly decreased germination, root penetration and shoot emergence of S. tenacissima compared to F. bracteata. This can be related to differences in morphological and physiological characteristics between crustose and squamulose lichens. Overall, we suggest that D. diacapsis and crustose lichens generally can act as natural barrier to the establishment of S. tenacissima.  相似文献

The stable isotopic composition of soil water is controlled by precipitation inputs, antecedent conditions, and evaporative losses. Because transpiration does not fractionate soil water isotopes, the relative proportions of evaporation and transpiration can be estimated using a simple isotopic mass balance approach. At our site in the shortgrass steppe in semi-arid northeastern Colorado, 18O values of soil water were almost always more enriched than those of precipitation inputs, owing to evaporative losses. The proportion of water lost by evaporation (E/ET) during the growing season ranged from nil to about 40% (to >90% in the dormant season), and was related to the timing of precipitation inputs. The sum of transpiration plus evaporation losses estimated by isotopic mass balance were similar to actual evapotranspiration measured from a nearby Bowen ratio system. We also investigated the evapotranspiration response of this mixed C3/C4 grassland to doubled atmospheric [CO2] using Open-Top Chambers (OTC). Elevated atmospheric [CO2] led to increased soil-water conservation via reduced stomatal conductance, despite greater biomass growth. We used a non-invasive method to measure the 18O of soil CO2 as a proxy for soil water, after establishing a strong relationship between 18O of soil CO2 from non-chambered control (NC) plots and 18O of soil–water from an adjacent area of native grassland. Soil–CO2 18O values showed significant treatment effects, particularly during a dry summer: values in ambient chambers (AC) were more enriched than in NC and elevated chamber (EC) plots. During the dry growing season of 2000, transpiration from the EC treatment was higher than from AC and lower than from NC treatments, but during 2001, transpiration was similar on all three treatments. Slightly higher evaporation rates from AC than either EC or NC treatments in 2000 may have resulted from increased convection across the soil surface from the OTC blowers, combined with lower biomass and litter cover on the AC treatment. Transpiration-use efficiency, or the amount of above-ground biomass produced per mm water transpired, was always greatest on EC and lowest on NC treatments.  相似文献

Evidence of spatial genetic structure in a California bunchgrass population   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We investigated the scale of genetic variation of purple needlegrass (Nassella pulchra), a species commonly used in California for grassland restoration. Common garden and field data revealed evidence of genetic differentiation between two intermixed microhabitats characterized by differences in soil depth and community composition. We assessed the genetic variation within a single population using randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) data collected from clusters of five individuals in 40 locations. We found no evidence for genetic structure at the whole population level. At smaller spatial scales, however, we found strong evidence that genetic subdivision of the population occurs at the level of the maternal neighborhood. We suggest that the interaction between widespread pollen dispersal and restricted seed dispersal may be the primary factor generating these results; panmictic pollen dispersal will make detection of genetic patterning difficult at larger spatial scales while limited seed dispersal will generate local genetic structure. As a result, the detection of population genetic structure will depend on the spatial scale of analysis. Local selection gradients related to topography and soil depth are also likely to play a role in structuring local genetic variation. Since N. pulchra is widely used in California in grassland and woodland habitat restoration, we suggest that, as a general rule, care should be exercised in transferring germplasm for the purposes of conservation when little is known about the within-population genetic subdivision of a plant species. 用样带法调查了内蒙古高原4种针茅(StipaL.)的年龄结构,并将其年龄划分为5个阶段:幼苗、幼龄、成年、老龄前期和老龄期。结果表明:幼苗对种群年龄结构和动态有较大的影响,针茅幼苗的存活率通常很低,而成年株丛的存活率较高,株丛的实际寿命很长,老龄株丛在种群中占有较大的比例。4种针茅中大针茅(S.grandisP.Smirn.)和克氏针茅(S.kryloviiRoshev.)的幼苗比例较高,从贝加尔针茅(S.baicalensisRoshev.)群落到小针茅(S.klemenziiRoshev.)群落种群中幼龄和成年株丛比例呈下降的趋势,而老龄株丛比例呈增加的趋势;针茅属植物在株丛水平上的动态主要表现为株丛的破碎与枝条自疏过程,以及株丛生殖枝数量和营养枝生物量的波动,幂函数模型Y=aXb可以对株丛的枝条自疏过程进行定量描述  相似文献
